This is followed by a report from a volunteer,
a visitor
of the facility from a school
that has been cooperating with our school, containing three examples
for many things that Marianne means when talking or writing about
"encouraging", will follow.
We weren’t at one about two other articles to be found in
this booklet, too.
The first article being the recommendatory
letter of the German ambassador in Kathmandu, Rüdiger
Lemp. Sure- a recommendatory letter is a great help and we’re
thankful for it but – "isn’t there too much praise
in it for me? It’s only supposed to judge my work and not
myself!"
The second article is Lea
F. Wyler’s one concerning her "colleague"
in Kathmandu – "I can’t publish that!?!"
I can relate to Marianne’s reaction a bit.
On the other hand can’t she who can see the positive side
of even the most run-downed person in a unique way, she who searches
to build up people and make them happy, isn’t she allowed
to be seen when others wish to express their respect and the admiration
for her? Not only in a conversation but also in the comparative
public?
We who have been responsible for the creation of this booklet are
by all means thankful for these two articles (as you can see we
managed to assert ourselves!).
We namely express what other people feel: much pleasure and gratefulness
for the existence of so many people who are talented and help "to
make this world a better place to live" with these talents
as Dr. Singh put it in his article.
We wholeheartedly hope we can all participate in keeping this movement
of love and justice alive.
Don’t get tired
approach this miracle
as silent
as if you were
approaching a bird.
Dear friends of our Shanti-family,
While reading this short poem written by Hilde Domin a few days
ago I realized that we actually have experienced a miracle!
Our Shanti has existed for 10 years; our enormous family, as we
are at the moment, accrued from small assignments. Sometimes I would
never want to go through all that again although there were times
when there were lots of happiness and encouraging moments. You were
able to witness them reading our news letters.
A miracle
And now this forced move of our main facility with our ambulances,
the workshops, the kindergarten and about 500 people, right before
our 10th anniversary at the temple – how are we supposed to
manage that? Where are we supposed to get the money from? In addition
to that due to the political situation more and more people are
haunting our facility while our food supply is diminishing –
and once again I re-experienced something at Shanti which has happened
so often before: as soon as the manifold emergency situations threatened
to suffocate us a beautiful, golden bird seated on our hand: the
earnings that Hape Kerkeling guessed for us (Pentecost of all times)
in the TV-show "Who wants to be a millionaire?".
